ARRIVAL and DEPARTURE Procedure
Students should not arrive before 9:00 a.m.
You may bring your children into the preschool by using the double doors in rear of the building by the secretary's office where the intercom is located.
If you choose to drop your child off by car, please use the Preschool entrance at the side of the building and wait for a teacher to come out and walk your child inside the school. The side entrance is for car riders only! It is encouraged to pull up past the sidewalk if you are the first car. Teachers will come get your children from your cars one car at a time. Do not allow your child to leave your car without a teacher.
Students can be picked up at 11:15 a.m. and NO later than 11:30 a.m.
A late fee of $5.00 every 5 minutes will be charged for picking up your child late.
Children will be dismissed only to a parent or a car pool driver. There will be an adult at each door to assure your child's saftey. Do not leave your child unless one of the teachers is on duty to receive your child.
Please notify the school IN ADVANCE if someone other than the person who regularly picks up the child is coming for your child. No child will be released to an unknown person. Your child will not be released unless the person picking up your child has the permission from you in advance. Call the office at 282-6272.
CAR POOLS
Car-pools are arranged by parents who take turns driving. It is advisable to wait until your child has completed the initial adjustment before beginning the car pools. We cannot stress enough the importance of letting your driver know of your child's illness ahead of time so they will not have to stop for your child. Call your driver when your child is ready to return to school. You must notify the teacher with all transportation plans, especially any changes. Please feel free to contact the director about arranging car pools for your area.
BIBLE STORIES
We do not teach religion in the school. We simply tell Bible stories to the children. We say prayers before our snack and continually let them know God loves them.
COMMUNICATION
Most communication will be via your child's backpack. If you wish to schedule a conference with the teacher feel free to do this at anytime. We urge you and your child to bring any concerns or problems to us at their occurrence. The teacher has responsibility to you, the parent and your child, so please contact your teacher regarding any misunderstandings or problems.
CLOTHING
Dress your child in sturdy play clothes suitable for indoor/outdoor play. Your child should never wear anything to school that is so good that you will be upset if it is soiled or torn. Boys should wear pants that will facilitate responsibilities for their bathroom and personal care. Please have ALL clothing marked with your child's name so nothing will get mixed up and sent home with someone else.
DISCIPLINE POLICY
We use the time-out method. 1) Verbal correction, 2) 2 minute time-out, 3) 5 minute time-out, 4) Removal from class, sent to the director for individual attention and supervision. Your child will be permitted to return to the classroom upon the director's discretion. Parents may be notified if deemed necessary. 5) If unacceptable behavior persists, your child may be removed from the preschool.
FIELD TRIPS
We do not take field trips at the Northside Preschool for insurance and liability purposes. We bring the field trips to us, i.e. fireman, policeman, dentist, ect... If you have someone in mind that would be good for the children to see and learn from, notify the director and we can make arrangements for them to visit the school.
