Finding Jesus innocent, Pilate tried to release Him instead of Barabbas, an insurrectionist. When Jewish leaders chose Barabbas for release, Pilate, in a dilemma, asked, “What shall I do, then, with Jesus who is called Christ?” Matthew 27:22. When the crowd demanded His crucifixion, Pilate yielded.

Have you ever thought about what it will be like when Jesus comes again? While no one knows when that day will be, there are many speculations about what will happen, many of which are without Scriptural authority. Nevertheless, Scripture does state very plainly several things that will occur when Jesus returns.

The Bible has long been revered as God’s Word! Very few would dare take a pair of scissors and cut from the pages of Scripture passages with which they disagree, nor would few write in margins laws in addition to what God has said.

In my house are several plants of differing varieties potted in small, medium and large containers. Since my wife’s decease, I try to maintain the plants, but I have difficulty in keeping them watered properly—either too much, too little or too infrequently. When I notice drooping leaves, I know I have neglected essential watering.

A new year is before us—12 months, 366 days—with opportunities for self-improvement, loving others, serving others who have needs. If we can learn to let Christ Jesus live in us, showing His love and compassion to our fellowmen, what a better world 2012 will be!

Bethlehem was crowded. Lodging was unavailable as many had come to register for the census. Joseph and Mary took what was available—space in a stable, where Mary gave birth to the child Jesus.

When Jesus ceased praying, His disciples requested, “Lord, teach us to pray…” (Luke 11:1). The account given by Matthew, commonly called “The Lord’s Prayer”, is the more familiar response of Jesus (Matthew 6:9-11).

Before one makes a major financial investment, he spends time researching investment firms for their financial stability, track records of annual returns on investments, etc. One does not wish to take risks with firms near bankruptcy nor those who do not produce good returns on investments.

While very careful to make wise investment choices, just how careful are we in our choices of life? Do we choose to let culture determine our lifestyle? Or do we choose to follow the Lord as He reveals His will for us in Scripture?
